Premier Division

Top of the table Leek won their fourth game of the season, when they beat Burslem by five wickets. Greg Willott took 8-39 as Leek dismissed Burlsem for 87. In reply Rob Haydon (31no) and Willott (25no) then saw the away side over the line.

Checkley moved up into second beating Hem Heath by 29 runs at home. Checkley got off to a poor start and found themselves 2-2 but Daniel Spasic (63), with others chipping in, managed to set Hem Heath 135 to win. Checkley then took regular wickets as Hem Heath were restricted to 105 all out, Jason Brown taking 6-44.

Premier League

Leek moved top of the table when they beat Knypersley at home by five wickets. They managed to restrict the away side to 145, Jonathon Cumberbatch hitting 62. Leek then chased down the total in the 53rd over, Chris Beech (56no) and Greg Willot (42no) seeing them over the line.

Stone won batting second beating Little Stoke by five wickets. Stone dismissed the home side for 156, David Womble and Matt Coxon both taking three wickets. In the second innings Womble finished on 59 not out as Stone reached the target in the 49th over.

After three games Porthill Park took themselves to the top of the table when they beat Little Stoke batting first by two runs. Porthill posted 142-7, John Hancock top scoring with 61 and Daniel Colclough the pick of the bowlers for the away side. Little Stoke then found themselves 140-8 and looking for victory, but they lost their last two wickets without scoring a run. Sohail Zaroof claimed figures of 5-55 and Peter Turnball (50) top scored.

Leek’s Greg Willott took 7-31 as his side beat Checkley away from home by six wickets. The home side managed to scramble to 75-9 from 43 overs, Willott taking out the top order. Leek opener Alex Mellor (40no) then saw his side over the line with Willott finishing 15no.

All divisions of the league were affected by the weather this week, with many matches abandoned or having reduced overs.

Premier Division

Defending champions Wood Lane got their first win of the season against Checkley, beating them by five wickets. They restricted Checkley to 76, Asad Ali taking 4-39. It then took them 31.5 overs to reach their target, Daniel Brierly (26no) and Deane Jervis (7no) seeing them over the line.

Longton and Leek could only manage a draw. Longton were put in to bat and posted 145-4 from 34 overs, Stefan Ruduch top scoring with 49. In reply Leek only managed to bat 27.3 overs as they finished on 101-3, Alex Mellor finishing on 58no.

Wood Lane made a poor start to their defence of the premier league title losing to Leek by five wickets. The reigning champions were dismissed for 83, Greg Willott claiming figures of 5-50 and Chris Beach taking 23-4. It took Leek 32.4 overs to reach the target, Rob Hayden top scoring with 44.

In the derby of the newly promoted teams, Checkley came out victors beating Cheadle by nine runs. In a low scoring match Checkley set the Tean Road side 120 to win Gavin Carr and Richard Cooper both hitting 35 to guide them to the total. James Sellers was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-32. Cheadle then collapsed from 63-1 to 108 all out.
